The 50th NAACP Image Awards Preview Day provided a sneak peek into the annual awards show which was hosted at the Dolby Theatre for the first time. The day included a special look inside the Dolby Theatre for a preview of the stage, viewing of the Pre-Show Reception set up and seat cards, preview of menu items, the gifting suite sponsored by Aveeno and gift bag items.
But let me tell you about the best part of this experience. Seeing the red carpet rolled out that the nominees would soon grace and interviewing the executives behind it all who worked hard at creating an unforgettable experience for these nominees to shine their lights and be celebrated.
It was such an honor to speak with President and CEO of the NAACP, Derrick Johnson. He shared about his deep roots with the NAACP and how his HBCU college experience shaped his love for the organization.
Tia Smith, award winning producer and former TV One Executive, was such a gem. She shared with me what it meant to her to represent excellence and her excitement for the award’s show first time at the home of the oscars, the Dolby Theatre.
Writer, Producer and Director, Reginald Hudlin, who is no stranger to the Dolby Theatre, reflected on his years producing the NAACP Image Awards and his love for Anthony Anderson and what he brings as a host.
